Catherston Vienna
Our final auction lot from the legendary Jennie Loriston-Clarke of Catherston Stud is this
outstanding filly by the great Vitalis.
In 2016, at the World Championships of young dressage horses in Ermelo, Vitalis set new
milestones: He won the Intermédiaire I and received the accolade of becoming “Stallion of
the Year”, while his daughter Victoria’s Secret was awarded the title of World Champion of
five-year-old dressage horses. Among other examples of his outstanding progeny we count
the successful stallion Valverde, the dressage winner of the Westphalian licensing.
Catherston Vienna’s mother, Sweetheart, Sweetheart is a St.Pr.St. Gold Medal mare who
was purchased from the Addington High Performance Sale and competed in Britain up to
Advanced Medium Level before retiring to stud. She brings the important influence of Sir
Donnerhall and Caprimond. Her mother Contina came third in the Bundeschampionat in
1999 under the saddle of Eva Möller, and then third again in 2000 under Dr Ulf Möller. Her
half-sister Sweet Carolina is competing successfully in Germany at PSG level with Philipp
Hess. The direct motherline also produced the PSG/Inter I horse Hot Vino.
Sweetheart has an excellent Futurity breeding record, as the dam of the Timolin youngsters
Catherston Tiffany (Elite), Catherston Top Hat (Elite) and Catherston Thriller (Elite), as well
as being the mother of Catherston Goldheart in this auction by Catherston Gold Storm.
At her Futurity evaluation, Catherston Vienna impressed with beautiful conformation and
elastic and expressive gaits, which gained her a mark of 9 for her trot.
A wonderful prospect with world class breeding and excellent gaits.
