Nelson z (sire) Nelson Z was bred in Mexico by Alfonso Romo. Nelson Z descends from Nureyev la Silla (Carolus I x Rocadero), a Holsteiner stallion who died at an early age. Nelson’s dam is no-one less than the famous international jumper Renata la Silla (Ramiro Z x Pantheon xx) on which Jaime Guerra won the Grand Prix of Geesteren. In combination with the stallion Ulft, Renata la Silla also produced the international showjumping horse Fine Line on which Jonathan Millar jumped in the World Cup finals. This young family (NL-mares line 001) also produced the famous international showjumping horses Just Malone (Erdball xx) ridden by Helena Weinberg, Goldenbridge (Nimmerdor) ridden by Wout-Jan van der Schans, Curioso L (Purioso) ridden by Henrik Lanner and Constantijn (Utrecht) ridden by Jerry Smit. Interesting in view of the breeding value of Nelson Z is the fact that he three times carries the blood of the influential Holsteiner mare Dorette (lineage 18b1) via the stallions Roman, Ronald and Farn. Nelson Z is performing successfully himself in he international showjumping sport under Richard Davenport, with placings in the Grand Prix of Monte Carlo, Brussels, St. Tropez, Cannes and Arezzo, as well as in the World Cup qualifiers in Olso and Helsinki.
